June 16–19, 2026: Congress Celebration

The 18th National Congress of Virology, proposed and endorsed by the Spanish Society of Virology (SEV), will be held from June 16 to 19, 2026 in the city of Cáceres, at the “San Francisco” Cultural Complex. Cáceres, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage City, will host the first National Congress of Virology ever held in Extremadura, offering an exceptional historical and cultural setting for this important scientific meeting.

This biennial meeting brings together Spanish and international professionals dedicated to the study of viruses from diverse fields such as medicine, pharmacy, veterinary science, biology, biotechnology, and environmental sciences. At its last edition, nearly 300 participants from universities, research centers, hospitals, and companies attended the congress, consolidating it as a benchmark forum for scientific and technological exchange.

Under the motto “Investigating the invisible to protect what is essential”, this edition highlights virology as a transversal and essential science that contributes to understanding fundamental biological processes and to protecting human, animal, and plant health, biodiversity, and global well-being.

The scientific program will include plenary lectures, thematic sessions, oral communications, and poster presentations, as well as specific activities for young researchers and spaces for interdisciplinary interaction. This congress represents an ideal setting to share the most current and relevant knowledge, as well as to showcase advances in products, services, and technologies related to virology.

It will be a pleasure to share knowledge, experiences, and new perspectives with all participants around the fascinating world of viruses. This meeting aims to foster dialogue, strengthen scientific collaboration, and open new avenues of cooperation, promoting the advancement of virology in all its research areas.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we extend a cordial welcome, from now on, to all those who decide to join us in Cáceres and actively participate in this new edition of the National Congress of Virology, contributing with their enthusiasm and work to the growth of our scientific community.
